Alishan High Mountain Oolong Tea

Alishan High Mountain Oolong Tea

We’ve been lucky enough to source some award-winning, hand-picked oolong tea from from the Alishan region of Taiwan, which is known for their dense cloud cover and high elevation.

It’s said that the tea leaves in this region have to face more hardships with the higher elevation and cooler climate - they grow more slowly, but through the harsher conditions, they develop a more concentrated flavor. Only the newly sprouted leaves are hand-plucked, and then they go through a sun-drying process before being rolled into little ball shapes and lightly roasted.

The tea will slowly unravel and expand when you steep the tea in hot water to drink, so a little goes a long way! Also, you can get 3-5 steeps out of the tea, depending on your preference- some people even go to 7 steeps.

This particular tea won 4th place in an oolong tea competition in Taiwan, and has light floral notes, a roundness of body, and a honey finish. Oolong teas are thought to be a light cooling tea, so perfect hot or chilled.

We have a limited amount of this tea, and it’s been hand-packed and labeled.
